Her commitment to others has earned her a youth ribbon. “A born leader,” councilor Dennis de Vries said about her at the presentation. The councilor comes from education and knows what it is like to stand in a crowded gymnasium. “Forty children, that seems very busy,” he says. “But fortunately you are there. You give everyone attention, you help where you can and for you every child is special. That deserves a reward,” says de Vries. The audience applauds when she receives her ribbon. The pride radiates from her mother, sister and the youth worker who gave her up.
