Svenni’s wish was for it to be an open and popular ceremony. 150 seats were reserved for specially invited guests, while 450 were kept open to the public. Outside the church there was a big screen.
The former England international lined up before being let in after ticking off. Inside the church, Beckham greeted and hugged people he recognized. He had a longer conversation with Thomas Nordahl, son of the legendary Gunnar Nordahl.
Inside the church, Beckham sat between Nordahl and Tord Grip in row two.
“Forever grateful”
At the beginning of June, Beckham visited Svennis at his home outside Sunne and slept over after a dinner with a conversation about life.
“We laughed, we cried, and we knew we were saying goodbye. Sven, thank you for always being the same person. I am forever grateful that you made me your team captain,” Beckham wrote on Instagram at the time.
Beckham, who came without his wife Victoria, had spent the night at the city hotel in Karlstad and lived in the so-called Sven-Ingvarssviten. The distance between Karlstad and Torsby is ten miles.
