Brazilian striker Rodrygo declared on Thursday November 23 that he was the victim of racist attacks on social networks, two days after the Seleção’s defeat in the “superclasico” against Argentina’s Lionel Messi, at the Maracana stadium in Rio de Janeiro. “The racists are still on duty. My social networks have been invaded by insults and nonsense of all kinds,” denounced the Real Madrid striker in messages published on his Instagram and the profile of the 22-year-old athlete, who is considering legal action, according to the Globo Esporte website, citing Rodrygo’s advice. His national team teammates, such as Neymar and Vinicius Jr, who himself is regularly the target of racist attacks in Spain where he plays alongside him at Real Madrid, expressed their solidarity with the Merengue striker. In a press release, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) condemned “racist acts” and assured that it “will continue to work tirelessly to ban this disease of racism from football”.
