– The boy’s parents drove him to the hospital. He experienced some sort of howling in his ears after the pyrotechnic pieces exploded, says Jerry Nilsson, security manager at VSK, to Sportbladet.
A police report for serious assault has been drawn up, where the boy is the plaintiff. There are no suspects at this time.
– A boy must be able to go and watch football, his idols, without getting a rocket in the face? I’m absolutely pissed off, says Henrik Isberg, regional sports coordinator in Polisregion Mitt, who was at the match as arena commander, to GP.
On Saturday afternoon, Allsvenska newcomer Västerås and Djurgården met in a pre-season match. The two heel sections were placed next to each other because the Hitachi Energy Arena in Västerås is being rebuilt.
After pyrotechnic pieces were fired at the Västerås stand and a subsequent rush from Djurgård supporters during the break, the start of the second half was postponed. When further disturbances arose in the 67th minute of the match, the match was broken for good.
