Football: After the victory – Japan first to qualify for the World Cup

On Friday, the qualification for next year’s World Cup begins in football for the European nations. But in Asia they have been running since October.

And now the first team is ready for the World Cup 2026, except for the host nations Canada, USA and Mexico.

Through goals by Daichi Kamada and Takefusa Kubo, Japan was able to beat Bahrain at home and secure one of two direct places in his group.

The advancement means that Japan is ready for its eighth straight World Cup on the men’s side.

– Japan will be the best in the world. Wonder how many people believe in the dream we are aiming for. We hear people who say it is impossible and we know it will be difficult. But I want to believe in Japan’s strength. So let’s do this together, says union captain Hajime Moriyasu in a statement via the Japanese national team’s official media channels, according to Aftonbladet.

The football World Cup will be played between June 11 and July 19 and will consist of 48 teams instead of 32 that have previously been the case.
