Football: 18-year-old hero when Manchester United won a swinging match against Wolverhampton in the Premier League

When Scott McTominay headed in 3-1 in the 75th minute of the match, Manchester United looked set for a comfortable victory away to Wolverhampton.

But it would turn out that the match was anything but over.

After a corner and a tangled situation in the penalty area, the ball landed at the feet of Max Kilman who reduced the score to 2-3 in the 85th minute.

Seven eventful overtime minutes

The clock ticked up to 90 minutes played and the crowd at Molineux Stadium were told they had nine minutes to first and foremost find an equaliser.

Wolves only needed five of those.

Then Neto received the ball out on the right, advanced into the penalty area, used a visiting defender as a screen and curled the ball in at the near post when United goalkeeper Andre Onana had his weight on the wrong foot.

Mainoo hero

But maybe the equalizer came a little too early.

There was still time left for both teams to find a winning goal and as the clock ticked past 97.00, United’s 18-year-old midfielder, Kobbie Mainoo, found the ball centrally outside the penalty area.

He parried one defender, chipped the ball away for another and then slotted in 4-3 to the visitors at the far post. Untouchable for the goalkeeper, José Sá.

Höjlund goalscorer again

United held off, won and took an important victory in the long chase for the places in the table that gives European games nose season.

Earlier in the match, United had scored goals from both Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Höjlund.

The latter has, after a slow start at his new club to say the least, picked up speed in his goalscoring and scored for the third Premier League game in a row.
