Powell became famous when, in the early 2000s, she blogged about her attempts to cook all 524 recipes in the famous American television chef Julia Child’s cookbook “The Good French Kitchen” in just one year.
After the success of the blog, she also published several books on the theme of food.
In 2009, the feel-good film “Julie & Julia” was released, with Amy Adams in the role of Julie Powell and Meryl Streep as Julia Child. The film has been described as the first based on a blog and was successful with cinema audiences.
Julie Powell died of cardiac arrest at her home, husband Eric Powell told The New York Times.
