When Rickard Andersson, 35, was identified as a perpetrator behind the school shooting in Örebro, he was unknown to the police. But now he can become interesting in several other unsolved crime cases in the region.
– You have to look at the approach, how the murder went. In that case, he needs to have been in his upper teens to have debuted as a murderer, says Mikael Nyqvist, preliminary investigator in cold cases in Region Bergslagen.
In the event of unresolved murders, a perpetrator profile is produced with hypotheses about probable characteristics and motives that the perpetrator may have had.
– Then you have to look at Rickard Andersson’s profile and if it can match the case in question.
Police: DNA might be interesting
Searching for matches with murderers’ profiles has occurred several times before, Nyqvist says.
Could it be relevant to search for murder from all over Sweden?
– It depends on what you come up with in the survey of Risbergska. If it is possible to get further in motif image.
Rickard Andersson’s DNA may also be interesting for the cold fall group.
-You have a register with DNA tracks from unresolved crimes. Everyone who comes in the DNA register is driven towards the track register.
13 unresolved murders in Örebro
However, it is unclear whether cold cases have the right to take part in Andersson’s DNA. Normally, DNA profiles from the systems are deleted when someone has died.
– I don’t know the legal conditions for it. We have to research that, says Mikael Nyqvist.
Kalla Fall’s work with Andersson may be forced to wait until next year. First, the police survey of the shooting at Risbergska and possible motives must be clearly investigated.
In Örebro County there are 13 unresolved murders, from 1989 to 2013. However, the list is not fully completed as the police are working to identify more possible cold cases.
