Last week, the Swedish Board of Agriculture presented a proposal with new, stricter rules for pets. Among the rules were stricter requirements for larger areas for pets to move, something that several pet owners believe can threaten their ability to keep their animals. In response to the criticism, the Swedish Board of Agriculture has now withdrawn its proposal, and makes a change.
“We make this redeemed to make sure we reach out to those affected by this legislation,” says Annett Kjellberg, Head of Department at the Swedish Agricultural Agency’s animal department.
According to her, the next step is to continue the dialogue with those who will comply with the legislation.
– We obviously have not reached as broad as we should have done, which is why we do this withdrawal. That we ensure that we reach out to those affected by the legislation, says Annett Kjellberg.
