Following SVT’s disclosure – police officers are investigated for service errors

It was in connection with the preliminary investigation into the murder of a 22-year-old woman becoming public, that SVT could reveal that several police officers heard her tell about a rape-without making any report.

Now Nicklas Englund, chief prosecutor in special investigations, has launched a preliminary investigation into suspected misconduct.

– This is entirely based on media tasks. There is reason to assume that police officers were guilty of violation of the reporting obligation, which is described in the Ninth of the Police Act, he tells SVT Småland.

At present, no individual police officers are suspected. Therefore, it is unclear how many police officers are being investigated for service errors.

Acts after SVT’s publications

– SVT’s publication is the entrance tasks that I have in the notification, which came here from an individual. Based on this information, I have concluded that there is reason to assume that there are police officers who have been guilty of service errors, says Nicklas Englund.

The preliminary investigation began last week.

Three in the woman’s family is suspected to have murdered her

It was in May last year the 22-year-old woman was found dead and her father, mother and brother have been charged with suspicion of murdering her.

In the police investigation around the murder, it appears that the woman previously told several police officers that her father exposed her to rape.

The father denies the rape charges and has said in interrogation that there should be medical evidence if the charges were true.
