Booy was a player, trainer and technical director of FC Utrecht. As a player, he played 26 matches for the club from the Galgenwaard between 1994 and 1996. In 2002 he became head coach of FC Utrecht. In that position he won the KNVB Cup in 2003 and 2004 and the Johan Cruijff Shield in 2004. This makes him the most successful coach in club history.
