A 41-year-old Paris woman faces multiple charges after being arrested by Brant OPP on Wednesday.
The woman was stopped by the Brant OPP traffic management unit just after 5 pm on Paris Road as part of a Highway Traffic Act investigation. She was subsequently charged with driving while prohibited, driving without insurance and while under suspension.
Police also charged her with using a license plate that didn’t match the vehicle.
The traffic management unit was created in 2021 to address speeding on county roads which has become a major issue for the county in recent years.
Brant OPP also introduced focused patrols to target aggressive driving in areas of concern in the county identified by officers, residents and statistical analysis.
Brant OPP will be conducting focused patrols on Paris Road near Dundas Street in Paris, East River Road in Glen Morris, Cockshutt Road in Newport and Brant Road 25 near Golf Links Road in the spring.

A 17-year-old male faces two charges after being spotted parked behind a commercial building on Scott Avenue on Wednesday.
A Brant OPP officer was conducting a proactive patrol in Paris when he saw the vehicle at about 8:20 pm The business was closed at the time.
The 17-year-old was charged with having cannabis readily available and possessing cannabis under the age of 19.
A proactive patrol refers to an officer driving or walking through an area and checking for suspicious behavior as opposed to responding to a complaint.
