The prosecutor believes that two young men beat their victim to death with a frying pan and stabbed him with a knife after a failed drug deal. A surveillance video from the incident last summer shows the suspected men fleeing the crime scene.
– The police made a big effort in the first 24 hours after this incident, which resulted in a very good state of evidence, says Viktor Törneke, prosecutor.
The major police operation that began after the murder initially had a somewhat odd focus, namely a pair of furry and fluffy slippers shaped like dogs.
– The slippers that one of the perpetrators wears were interesting, especially at the beginning of this investigation, says Viktor Törneke.
Through the police’s detective work, they manage to link the slippers to a specific person. Once the slippers were linked to one of the suspected men, it could also be established that the victim’s blood was found on the dogs.
The main proceedings in the Gothenburg district court are now finished and a verdict is expected within a few weeks.
– Should the district court judge this as murder, I have asked for 16 years in prison, says Viktor Törneke.
Both suspects deny wrongdoing.
