IBK Lund’s men’s team plays in Swedish floorball’s second league, Allsvenskan, and was due to face Stockholm team Hässelby SK on Saturday afternoon.
But at lunchtime, the team’s bus left the highway in the snow and slush outside Nyköping, south of Stockholm. Several passengers were injured, four of them seriously.
“Sporting becomes very secondary in a situation like this and we obviously hope for a positive outcome in this difficult situation,” says Ludvig Gustavsson.
IBK Lund writes briefly about the incident on its Facebook page.
“In connection with today’s trip to Hässelby, the men’s team had a nasty accident with the player bus,” writes the club.
“We have set up a crisis center, have contacted Lund municipality’s crisis management and are also in contact with the Swedish Floorball Association regarding the issue. We will return with more information at a later stage.”
