Several people have died during storm Boris, which moved in over central and eastern Europe. Thousands have been affected by the heavy rainfall in both the Czech Republic, Austria, Romania and Poland.
A dam burst on Sunday near the Polish village of Stronie Slaskie near the Czech border, and images in Polish media showed torrential water rushing through residential areas in the area.
Buildings must have collapsed or are under water.
Asking for help – helicopters deployed
Residents of the nearby town of Nysa appeal to the authorities for help and say they have no way to get out, write Gazeta Wyborcza.
One of the city’s squares is completely flooded and all bridges over the nearby Nysa Klodzka River have been closed due to high water flows.
The Polish rescue service signs X that helicopters were deployed during the evacuation work because it is currently not possible to reach the victims in any other way in several places.
“It is a difficult time, but we will not give up,” writes the Polish Home Guard X.
