In the statement made by the World Food Program (WFP) Afghanistan Office, “The flood disaster that devastated Afghanistan led to the death of more than 300 people and the destruction of more than 1000 houses in Baghlan. “This was one of many floods that have occurred over the past few weeks due to unusually heavy rainfall.”

“The Secretary-General is deeply saddened by the loss of life in the flood disaster in Baghlan Province in northeastern Afghanistan. The Secretary General expresses his solidarity with the people of Afghanistan. He expresses his condolences to the families of the victims and wishes a speedy recovery to the injured. “The United Nations and its partners in Afghanistan are coordinating with actual authorities to quickly assess needs and provide emergency assistance.”
