Floating packages were two tons of cocaine – see the police’s “record crackdown”

The “strange packaging method and the presence of a light device to enable tracking” indicate that the packages were dumped by a cargo ship to be picked up later, Italian police wrote in a press release.

When the customs were to collect the 70 packages, they were protected by several aircraft, to protect the personnel in the boats. According to the police, they continued to search the area for more floating packages.
