Singer-songwriter and keyboardist of the American-British rock group Fleetwood Mac Christine McVie has died at the age of 79. The artist, who was also successful in his solo career, died on Wednesday after a short illness. McVie’s death was announced by his family.

McVie joined the ranks of the legendary band a few years after the band formed in 1967. He wrote some of Fleetwood Mac’s most famous songs, including Little Lies, Everywhere and Songbird.

– There are no words to describe the sadness we feel due to the death of Christine McVie. He was truly one of a kind, special and immeasurably talented, the band said in a statement posted on Twitter.

– He was the best musician anyone could have in their band, and the best friend anyone could ever have in their life. We were so lucky to have a life with him.

McVie left the band twice

Christine McVie left the band in 1998, but returned to the band’s ranks 16 years later.

In 2017, McVie revealed on the BBC’s Desert Island Discs radio show that after leaving the band again, he had withdrawn from the world around him and had developed a fear of open spaces. Around the time of his new departure, he had also moved from California in the United States to Kent in the UK.

The band, which entered the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998 and won Grammys, has sold more than 100 million records worldwide, and is considered one of the most successful bands in the world.

The band was one of the most famous of the 70s and 80s. Its most famous line-up included Mick Fleetwood, Christine McVie and her husband John McVie mixed Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks.
