Flashback: the new TF1 series with Michaël Youn should remind you of something

Flashback the new TF1 series with Michael Youn should remind

The new “Flashback” series, with Michaël Youn in the main role, arrives on TF1 this week. A time journey that makes them think of another.

It may be the most awaited series of the year on television. Flashback, New original creation of TF1, promises to shake up the police genre with an explosive cocktail mixing investigation, comedy and time travel. Carried by the duo Michaël Youn-Consistency gay, she landed Thursday April 3 on the front page, for six episodes.

Detective fiction of a new kind, Flashback has already attracted the criticism by being rewarded for the special jury prize at the last TV fiction festival in La Rochelle. It must be said that it accumulates the assets: an original or even offbeat concept, a duo of endearing heroes and an engaging intrigue, which takes place between the current and the 90s.

Imagined by Clélia Constantine and co -wrote with Louise Bezombes (crossed screenwriter on Balthazar),, Flashback Follows the steps of Elsa Letellier, agent of the scientific police in Lyon. This brilliant thirties chose this profession to walk in the footsteps of his father Josselin, himself a police officer, who died murdered in strange circumstances 30 years earlier, when Elsa was only 6 years old. While the case is about to be classified, the young woman finds herself mysteriously propelled in 1994, a few months before the murder of her father.

What does the series say Flashback ?

The heroine sees it as the unexpected opportunity to prevent the drama from happening. For this, Elsa will integrate the team of … Josselin himself! She becomes the teammate of her father and is determined to find who to him and why, while taking care to never reveal their relationship. But the personality of this 90s cop, a big mouth to the sometimes limited methods, will quickly detonate with the professionalism of Elsa. The shock of eras and generations is obviously explosive!

Over the six episodes, the tandem will have to investigate different things while trying to thwart the fatal destiny of Josselin. A race against the clock begins for the policewoman from the future, who hopes with all my heart to be able to change the past. Will Elsa be able to prevent what seems inevitable? And above all will she succeed in getting along with this father whom she rediscovers in a new light? With its multiple issues, Flashback multiplies offbeat situations and suspense sources.

An air of return to the future

Above all, in the scenario as in the very coded imagery of the series, we cannot help recognizing another saga that is obvious. If Elsa’s primary will is not always a “return to the future”, her mission (saving her father that she is forced to rub shoulders with, avoid having deleterious effects on the future, or even trying to improve it) is often compared to that of a certain Marty McFly, known on screens in other times.

If the traveler of the future is this time a traveler, the enticing casting, the costumes and the sets forming a careful reconstruction, the unprecedented and daring intrigue and especially the potask gags irresistibly recall those returning to the future and its consequences. Nostalgic references and winks at the 90s will do the rest. And we wish the series half or even a quarter of the success of the monument of Robert Zemeckis.
