“If Twitter doesn’t follow our rules, it will be banned from the European Union if it’s repeated,” said French minister for digital affairs, after the European Commission’s industry commissioner Thierry Breton officially published the rules for enforcement against online disinformation.

French Minister Barrot said in a statement; “Twitter plays an important role in public debate, but we cannot risk a social network like Twitter being taken hostage by disinformation advocates and thereby affecting our public debate, our democracy,” he said. That’s why Barrot, expressing that it has clear rules, said that Twitter has to comply with these rules.

The owner of Twitter, American billionaire Elon Musk, reminded that Twitter is ready to comply with the rules set by Europe.
