Flags at Governor Simcoe Square have been lowered to half-mast in honor of former prime minister Brian Mulroney who died on Thursday.
The flags will remain lowered until Tuesday in memory of the 18th Canadian prime minister who served from 1984 to 1993.

“Norfolk County wishes to extend condolences to Mr. Mulroney’s family, including Hon. Caroline Mulroney, Minister of Francophone Affairs and President of the Treasury Board,” said a news release issued by Norfolk County on Friday.
Caroline Mulroney is the daughter of the former prime minister.
Planning is underway for a state funeral for Mulroney, a special public event reserved for eminent Canadians, including prime ministers.
