Five unexpected deaths at the House of thought in a short time

From January 24 onwards, five unexpected deaths have occurred at the retirement home of the House in Höllviken, TV4 News can reveal. In total, there are 57 apartments and in an information letter to the employees that TV4 News has taken part in the events are described.

“We, together with our doctors, have paid attention to deaths at the House of thought that was not expected and where there were common symptoms. These deaths have occurred from the end of January onwards. When this was noticed, we immediately took action and initiated a broad investigation in close dialogue with all the authorities concerned, ”it says.

The letter is signed by Vellinge Municipality and Foreneede Care, which runs the accommodation. Roy Sundvall, communications manager at Foreneede Care, confirms everything and says they take it very seriously.

– This is normal. When something deviant occurs in an activity, such as five deaths within a short time, you have to investigate it and find out what has happened. We have talked to the doctors and concluded that we have to look at this. Then we have the different tracks that we together with the municipality and authorities are looking at, he says.

Has been reported to the police

In connection with the unexpected deaths, a police report has been made and there is no suspicion of crime.

– There are five cases. It is death without suspicion of crime. We are awaiting answers from the autopsy for the cause of death, then we can decide whether or not to open a preliminary investigation, says police spokesman Jimmy Modin.

All five people who have died had common symptoms.

– That’s what the link is that we have to look at this. Similar symptoms and five deaths for a short period of time. Then we need to act. It may be a coincidence, but we have not expected these deaths, says Roy Sundvall and continues:

– We need all the tools we have together with the municipality and authorities to find out if there is a common denominator. Is it something that is the basis for this? Is it a virus? Is there any food? Is it the property? Is that ventilation?, He says.

Do not want to comment on the symptoms

He believes that an expected death can be if an elderly person stops taking his medicine, stops eating or stops drinking water for example. But Roy Sundvall does not want to specify what symptoms it is about.

– I do not want to precede any investigations. There I want to let the investigation have its way. Maybe I can go out and comment on it later. I don’t want to give rise to anyone speculating, he says.

Several measures have been taken and the information letter states that information will be given on an ongoing basis.

“We understand that this situation creates concern, and we want to make sure that we do everything we can to ensure security for our residents,” writes Vellinge municipality and Foreneede Care.

TV4 News has previously reported on the Real Estate House in Höllviken where Leif Wendt, 81, sat 26 hours in a chair with a broken hip. It was only when his relatives came there as an ambulance was called.
