Five Swedes in new Hall of fame

Stefan Lövgren (midfielder), Magnus Wislander (middle sixth), Tomas Svensson (goalkeeper), Ola Lindgren (defensive player) and Linnea Torstenson (defensive player) are the quintet who receive Hall of Fame status from the EHF.

The four men’s players were all mainstays in Sweden’s national team during the hugely successful “Bengan Boys” era. Between 1990 and 2002, Blågult won, among other things, two WC golds, four EC golds and three Olympic silvers.

Torstenson played in the national team between 2005 and 2016 and was named the tournament’s most valuable player when Sweden won European Championship silver in 2010. She was also part of the WC bronze team in 2014.

The European Handball Federation turns 30 this year and has selected twice as many players ahead of the launch of the Hall of Fame.

“We are proud to give attention to players who have shaped our sport,” said EHF chairman Michael Wiederer in a press release.
