Five reportedly killed in Russian drone attacks

Air raid alarms have sounded repeatedly in the past 24 hours in Ukraine, where five people are reported to have been killed in Russian drone attacks.
Russia, for its part, claims to have shot down 76 Ukrainian drones.

Two people died when a Russian drone struck a village in the Donetsk region and two more were killed when a residential building in Kharkiv was hit, writes the newspaper Kyiv Independent, citing information from regional authorities. A fifth person was reportedly killed in the town of Novohrodivka.

Important infrastructure in central Ukraine is said to have also been destroyed in a drone attack, several media reports.

The Ukrainian Air Force claims in a post on the Telegram messaging service that it has shot down 24 out of 29 Russian drones in the past 24 hours. Russian forces are also said to have fired two anti-aircraft robots and as many naval target robots.

The Russian defense forces, for their part, state that they have shot down 76 drones fired from Ukraine in the past 24 hours, reports the AFP news agency.

Ukraine has increased its attacks on Russia in recent months. Several attacks have been directed at Russian oil depots and refineries. During the night of Saturday, an oil depot was attacked in the Russian border region of Belgorod, governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said on Telegram.
