First a restaurant was blown up in Södermalm – the following night a business premises exploded in Kista. Five people are now being sentenced for involvement in the double bombings in January.
The attacks were directed at “The Greek” in the drug conflict with the “Kurdish Foxes”. Both explosions were powerful and could be heard over the whole district.
The first crime occurred on January 17 this year. A bomb detonated at the entrance to a restaurant on Södermalm in Stockholm and caused extensive damage to the building, nearby homes and cars.
Almost exactly one day later, on January 18, residents in Kista were woken up by a loud bang. An explosion had occurred at the gate of a company hotel. When police investigators looked at the two crimes, they saw several differences.
At both addresses there were people who were connected to the 24-year-old leader figure “The Greek” in the Dalennättvernet, but who were not criminals themselves. In addition, a similar bomb was used on both occasions.
Eight were charged – three were acquitted
Eight people between the ages of 16 and 42, who according to the prosecutor do not belong to any network, were charged with involvement in the explosions.
On Friday, the Solna district court announced that five of these are being sentenced for having handled explosives to varying degrees and participated in the explosions. Two people, who were charged with aiding and abetting the violation of the Act on Flammable and Explosive Substances, are acquitted of involvement. Another person, who was charged with involvement in the explosion in Kista, is also acquitted.
A 24-year-old man is sentenced for having caused the explosion on Södermalm. The crime is classified as public destruction and the penalty is imprisonment for four years and six months. The 24-year-old must also pay damages.
Two 16-year-olds, who both deviated from their HVB placements, are sentenced together with a 31-year-old and a 26-year-old for having caused the explosion in Kista. The two 16-year-olds are both sentenced to closed youth care and the 31-year-old is sentenced to four years in prison. The 26-year-old is also sentenced for handling the explosive before the explosion occurred and for handling the explosive charges that were found in Sundsvall.
He was recently sentenced to a total of three years in prison for another crime, and now he is being sentenced to another three years in prison.
Homemade thermos bombs
According to the police investigation, the explosives were homemade thermos bombs that were built with batteries and 1-3 kilos of dynamite. They made a total of five bombs and managed to use two of them. The other three were sent to Sundsvall but were seized by the police before they were used.
According to the prosecutor, the background to the attacks is the conflict between the Greek and the Kurdish fox Rawa Majid, 36, which began at the end of 2022 after the competition for the drug market in Sundsvall.
Both gang leaders are abroad. Many of the acts in the ruthless wave of violence of historical proportions have therefore, just like these cases, been directed against friends and relatives of the protagonists.
