Five face drug trafficking charges after joint forces busts on Walpole Island: OPP

Five people face charges after joint forces drug busts on Walpole Island First Nation, provincial police say.

Arrests were made during Feb. 15 traffic stops following drug trafficking probes involving Lambton OPP, OPP community street crimes unit and Walpole Island police, Lambton OPP said in a release.

Searches during the arrests turned up suspected fentanyl, cocaine, ammunition and distribution materials, police said.

A Chatham man, 30, and a Windsor man, 24, are charged with possessing drugs for trafficking.

A Wallaceburg man, 25, is charged with possessing drugs for trafficking and resisting arrest.

A Wallaceburg man, 34, and a St. Clair Township woman, 32, are charged with two counts of possessing drugs for trafficking, and single counts of carelessly transporting ammunition and failing to comply with probation order. The man also is charged with possessing ammunition contrary to prohibition order.

All accused are being dealt with in the Sarnia court system.
