Several people broke into a residence in Motala on Thursday evening.
They are suspected of having assaulted and threatened a resident there – but were caught on the run.

Shortly before 11 p.m., the police were alerted to a suspected assault in a residence in Motala.
– There are a number of perpetrators who have gained access to the plaintiff’s residence and then assaulted him, says Torbjörn Lindqvist, officer on duty at the police in the East region.
Five arrested
It is not yet known how the man was abused. The police received information that the perpetrators left in a vehicle. A patrol encountered it a little later in Skänninge in Mjölby municipality, two kilometers south of Motala.
– When checked, there were four people in the vehicle, says Torbjörn Lindqvist.
– Three men and a woman were arrested, and then another woman appeared who was also arrested, so we have five people detained.
Aggravated weapons offense
The police have started a preliminary investigation into aggravated assault, aggravated unlawful threat, aggravated breach of domestic peace and aggravated weapons offences.
– The aggravated weapons offense involves the plaintiff stating that he was also threatened with a weapon-like object, says Torbjörn Lindqvist.
What is the condition of the victim?
– He was taken to the hospital in an ambulance, but apart from the fact that there must have been some wounds on him, I have no other information.
