(Finance) – The extension of tax deadlines granted by the Government to areas affected by bad weather should be extended to the whole country. “With the government’s choice to grant the postponed to 20 August only of the payments of tax and social security contributions for residents in areas affected by the climate emergency, seriously the balance sheets of hundreds of thousands of companies are in crisis Italian companies that do not fall within the areas in question”, he warns Marco CuchelPresident of the National Association of Accountants.
“Our idea is that common interest is the correct and functional mechanism for the execution of tax obligationsbut unfortunately, between postponements and incomprehensible impossibilities dictated by the needs of revenue from the state budget, we find ourselves living the paradoxical situation in which, only with the exception of the areas affected by the extension, who wants to pay promptly taxes, without having to resort to amnesty institutes, thus subjecting to further penalties, it cannot be this year legitimized to do so.
“We don’t like extensions – continued Cuchel – but these they’re necessary since we find ourselves operating in an increasingly opaque regulatory environment, without precise directives and compliance with the rules by the Financial Administration which continues to issue on the threshold of tax deadlines last minute circulars and does not make the IT tools available prematurely that accountant firms must use”.
“Speak about tax man by the Revenue Agency, which issues substantial circulars (even of over 570 pages) just four days after the expiry of the tax payment deadlines, it almost seems like a provocation”underlines Cuchòl, reiterating “we ask for government intervention to extend the extension to the whole national territory and to shed the necessary clarity on the inefficiencies of the Financial Administration and on the many inconsistencies of the system which penalizes taxpayers and professionals excessively”.
