First video of the zombie return in which a war escalates

Since the end of The Walking Dead, new spin-off series have continued the story of the zombie apocalypse. The two spin-offs, The Walking Dead: Dead City and The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, are not one-off miniseries, but ongoing sequels.

While a second season of Daryl’s French adventure starts in just a few months, filming has now begun on the sequel to Dead City. The return to post-apocalyptic New York puts Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Maggie (Lauren Cohan) on two sides of an escalating war.

New The Walking Dead video takes a look behind the scenes of Dead City Season 2

Filming for the second season of Dead City has been in full swing since April 2024. The US broadcaster with a new video now first insights into the production the new episodes with Negan and Maggie – who seem to be having a little too much fun.

Even though the cast obviously enjoys filming, there is little to laugh about for the characters in the series sequel. In Dead City Season 2 the war in New York begins to escalateas the official plot description of the new episodes reveals:

In the second season, Maggie and Negan find themselves caught on opposite sides in the escalating war for control of Manhattan. When their paths cross, they realize that the way out for both of them is more complicated and shocking than they ever imagined.

At the end of the first season, Negan was blackmailed by the sinister Dama (Lisa Emery). In order to protect Maggie’s son Hershel (Logan Kim), the ex-Savior is supposed to slip back into the role of a villain and unite the splintered factions of New York. The city is facing a resource war with the New Babylon Federation.

The Walking Dead fans can also get a first look at new cast member Kim Coates in the new behind the scenes video. In season 2, the Sons of Anarchy star joins the main cast and plays the character Bruegel, the manipulative leader of one of New York’s most feared gangs. An ideal opponent for Negan.

When is The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 2 coming out?

Fans will have to wait a little longer to see Maggie and Negan again. Dead City will return in 2025 with season 2A specific launch month has not yet been announced. The new episodes will be shown again in the USA on AMC and in Germany first on MagentaTV.

But there’s more The Walking Dead coming. The second season of the Daryl Dixon series starts this summer, and not only does it send the eponymous fan favorite back through France. Carol (Melissa McBride) is also returning and making the long journey to Europe.
