With Shrek 5 just announced for 2026 this summer, another major animated franchise from the 2000s and 2010s can’t hold a candle to this unexpected sequel. Now the Ice Age franchise has also announced that… Ice Age 6 a new cinema adventure is in the making.
Ice Age 6 emulates Shrek: New movie is coming
The acorn-obsessed squirrel named Scrat is probably the most famous figurehead of the Ice Age adventures. The animated films created by Blue Sky Studios belong to 20th Century Fox and have therefore also belonged to Disney for some time. And so a new cinema sequel by mammoth Manny, sloth Sid, saber-toothed tiger Diego and their acquaintances was revealed at the Disney D23 trade fair in Brazil:

With frosty greetings, the English speakers Ray Romano (Manny) and Queen Latifah (mammoth lady Ellie) reveal the surprise in the first video that Ice Age 6 is in the works. John Leguizamo (Sid) also makes an appearance at the end to bring the “herd” back together. But beyond that it will be cold again no plot details yet and no title announced either.
The Shrek series, which was also successful at the beginning of the 2000s, got a new lease of life from the celebrated solo adventure of Puss in Boots. When it comes to Ice Age, however, it was quiet in the cinema when we look at the big screen release:

Up to now there has always been a 3 or 4 year break between the individual Ice Age films. Now there will be a decade between parts 5 and 6. The last time the icy franchise was on stream was in 2022 Spin-off film Ice Age – The Adventures of Buck Wild (with weasels and opossums as main characters) has been revived on Disney+ on a trial basis. In part 6, all the important main characters should be there again in the cinema. Then in Germany we will definitely hear Otto Waalkes again as the iconic sloth Sid.
When does Ice Age 6 start in cinemas?
There is no specific start date for the new Ice Age movie yet. But it has already been designated as the starting year 2026 announced – 10 years after the last cinema adventure, which was released in 2016.
