No matter how long it takes, Tron will finally happen? Until 2025 We still have to wait until the science fiction sequel Tron 3 aka Tron: Ares. The whole thing, including Leto in the glowing light suit, is staged by Maleficent 2 director Joachim Rønning. He is following in the footsteps of his colleagues Steven Lisberger and Joseph Kosinski, who made the previous films Tron from 1982 and Tron Legacy from 2010.
What happens next in the sci-fi sequel Tron 3?
The upcoming Tron part turns the franchise’s tried-and-tested formula on its head. As the video with main actor Leto proves, this time it’s not about people made of flesh and blood who travel into the virtual world of the grid, but about a virtual character who somehow manages to come into reality. According to the Disney film description, this is the highly developed program Ares, which is supposed to be the first AI person to make contact with humans. If that works out?

Star Wars: Lightsabers had power cords?
Leto sees his team as particularly trustworthy menacing-looking red and black light suit not exactly. And then there is the connection to the company Dillinger Systems, which is probably connected to the ENCOM villain Edward Dillinger (David Warner) from the first part…
Who else is in front of the camera for Tron: Ares?
The rest of the cast is also impressive. Joining Leto as Ares are the likes of X-Files star Gillian Anderson, as well as Evan Peters, Greta Lee, Hasan Minhaj, Jodie Turner-Smith and Cameron Monaghan. Filming is currently taking place in Vancouver, Canada, where production resumed at the beginning of the year after the Hollywood strike.
It is not yet clear when Tron 3 will be released in cinemas. So far, Disney has not announced an official theatrical release.
