War must be a kind of hell that only the luckiest escape. That’s how it shows first trailer for the war film Warfare by star director Alex Garland (Civil War) and Ray Mendoza. The story is based on Mendoza’s experiences in the Iraq War.

Alex Garland’s war film Warfare: Elite soldiers fight for their lives
According to Variety, Warfare revolves around a group of American soldiers who belong to the elite squad of the so-called Navy SEALs. In 2006 they were lying in wait in Iraq when suddenly a storm of unimaginable proportions breaks out: The family home where she is billeted comes under fire from all sides. As the danger, violence and psychological pressure continue to increase, the fighters must find a way out.
Garland, who, in addition to his directing work, wrote screenplays for The Beach, 28 Days Later and Dredd, among others, tells one True story: As Variety explains and the trailer suggests, the story is based on the memories of real soldiers, including co-director and screenwriter Mendoza. In order to increase the intensity of the images and the claustrophobia of the situation, the directors tell the story Process in real time.
The result, if the trailer allows one to judge, is reminiscent of war films with a dense, depressing atmosphere such as Tony Scott’s Black Hawk Down. In front of the camera are stars like Will Poulter (The Revenant), Noah Centineo (To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before), Cosmo Jarvis (Shogun) and Joseph Quinn (Game of Thrones).
When is Warfare coming to the cinema?
Unfortunately, there is no set launch date for Warfare yet. The war film by Garland and Mendoza is supposed to be in the USA over the course of 2025 appear. Mendoza himself is not seen in front of the camera, but is portrayed by D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai (Reservation Dogs).
