In an interview with the British Telegraph, the director spoke about his intentions with Civil War:

[Der Film] is set at an unspecified point in the future – just far enough ahead that I could add an invention – and serves as Science fiction allegory for our current polarized predicament.

In addition to Mary Jane Watson actress Kirsten Dunst, the cast of the sci-fi blockbuster also includes Wagner Moura (Narcos), Stephen McKinley Henderson (Dune), Sonoya Mizuno (House of the Dragon), Jojo T. Gibbs (Past Lives ), Karl Glusman (Love) and Cailee Spaeny (Priscilla).
