Miranda Otto, who gave an unforgettable, award-winning performance in The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, reprises her role as Éowyn, the Warrior of Rohan, who serves as the tale’s narrator. Set 183 years before the events of the original film trilogy, The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim tells the fate of the legendary King of Rohan, the House of Helm Hammerhand. A sudden attack by the clever and ruthless Dunlending lord Wulf, who seeks revenge for his father’s death, forces Helm and his people to make a valiant last stand at the ancient fortress of the Hornburg, later known as Helm’s Deep. Finding herself in an increasingly desperate situation, Helm’s daughter Héra must summon the will to lead the resistance against a deadly enemy intent on their complete destruction.
The original film is directed by Kamiyama and produced by Oscar-winner Philippa Boyens, the screenwriters behind The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit Trilogies, along with Jason DeMarco and Joseph Chou, who have worked on numerous animated projects as well as the “Blade Runner: Black Lotus” series.
