First trailer for the fantasy adventure Dungeons Dragons

Filming on Dungeons & Dragons ended in August 2021, but since then it has been quiet about the adaptation of one of the most famous role-playing games of all. That changed with Comic-Con 2022. Now there is one first glimpse of the fantasy adventure starring Tarantino’s favorite actor Chris Pine, Fast & Furious star Michelle Rodriguez, Bridgerton’s Regé-Jean Page, Jurassic World actor Justice Smith and Hugh “Hugh Grant” Grant, which certainly doesn’t take itself as seriously as the other big fantasy projects in the coming months.

First impression: Anyone who gets annoyed by the sublime images of the new Lord of the Rings series will get their money’s worth here. Dungeons & Dragons looks more like a light adventure film, more Jumanji than Mordor.

What is known so far about the plot of the fantasy film

According to official information, you can expect the following in Honor Among Thieves, according to the title addition:

An ex-harpist and thief breaks out of prison with his partner, a barbarian. He reunites with a wizard with no talent and a druid who is new to the team: together they plan to rob the crooked con man who stole all the loot from the heist that put her behind bars, making himself Lord of Neverwinter . Trouble is, the traitor is in league with a powerful red wizard and plotting much darker plans.

The story already hints at how the classes from the role-playing game are taken up directly, ie thieves, druids, etc. Chris Pine described the adventure at Collider as a mixture of Game of Thrones, The Knights of the Coconut and The Goonies.

At the panel in San Diego, it was also revealed that some characters from the ’80s D&D series Dragon Land will appear in the film, Empire reports.

The theatrical release of Dungeons & Dragons

We’ll have to wait a while before we can start. The fantasy film is only coming on March 2, 2023 in German cinemas.

Directed and written by John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, Game Night is one of the more original Hollywood comedies of recent years. By the way, at the Comic-Con panel, the two described their film like this:

Dungeons & Dragons isn’t just a game… It’s about the feeling of playing the game and we wanted to capture that in the film. (via Discussing Film) Podcast: How good is the most expensive Netflix film The Gray Man?
