Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro and Martin Scorsese have directed a film. It is 206 minutes long, takes place in the 1920s and is about a horrifying series of murders. Today the first teaser trailer for the highly anticipated true crime epic Killers of the Flower Moon was releasedbefore the film opens to the public for the first time at the Cannes Film Festival on Saturday.

Killers of the Flower Moon tells the story of a real-life series of murders
Killers of the Flower Moon kidnapped to Oklahoma almost a hundred years ago. This is where the Osage live, a Native American people who have become extremely wealthy through oil. Mollie Burkhart (Lily Gladstone from Certain Women) is one of them. Together with her white husband Ernest (Leonardo DiCaprio), nephew of the influential William Hale (Robert De Niro), she leads a well-ordered life. But more and more of Mollie’s relatives die under mysterious circumstances. A suspicion arises: Is it a white conspiracy?who want to get their wealth from the murders of the Osage? Could Mollie be the next victim?
The story was researched by non-fiction author David Grann, who explains the background to the series of murders with hundreds of deaths in his book The Crime: The Osage Murders and the FBI (at Amazon *) wrote down.
Originally Leonardo DiCaprio was supposed to play a different role
Grann’s book is basically broken down into three major sections: Mollie’s story, the investigation by FBI agent Tom White (Jesse Plemons in the film), and a research trip by David Grann himself.
The film will shift focus to Mollie and her husband Ernest, Martin Scorsese revealed in an interview with Deadline. DiCaprio was originally slated to play the FBI agent, but the star and director felt the character of Ernest had more promise for a movie.
For Scorsese, by the way, that will be the one seventh film with Leonardo DiCaprio (they previously shot The Departed and Aviator, among others) and the tenth with Robert De Niro. Most recently, De Niro was digitally rejuvenated in front of the camera for Netflix’s The Irishman.
When is Killers of the Flower Moon coming to Germany and where will the film stream?
Killers of the Flower Moon is coming October 19th in German cinemas. The film is a production for the Apple TV+ streaming service, so it’s almost impossible to be released on Netflix or Amazon Prime Video.
