The event offered a chance for program participants to connect, while sharing their achievements and discussing common challenges.

Mayor Darrin Canniff paid a visit to the group to hear the stories of what inspired them to become entrepreneurs.

Summer Company is designed to empower young people, aged 15 to 29, to start and run their own summer businesses. Participants receive training, mentorship and a $3,000 grant to support their venture.

Almost any type of business is eligible, as long as it is a sole proprietorship or corporation, and not a part of an existing or family business. It must operate in Ontario on a full-time basis.

“We are incredibly proud of the students and their accomplishments,” economic development officer Anthony Wilson said in a release.

“This event not only celebrates the hard work of young entrepreneurs, but speaks to the bright future of Chatham-Kent’s small business community.”

Applications for the 2025 program will open in the spring of next year, offering another group of young entrepreneurs the chance to make their business ideas a reality with support and resources from the small business centre.
