Now 26,000 tons of grain is on its way from Ukraine to Lebanon, where it will be unloaded on its cargo of corn.
It is the first ship to leave the port city of Odessa since the Russian invasion in February.
Which means that Ukraine receives important money in the treasury. But the relief is also heard from the EU, the UN and developing countries that are crying out for food.
An important first step, says Peter Stano, spokesperson for foreign affairs at the European Commission in a statement.
Another 16 ships loaded with grain are prepared to launch.
– But you can’t build up your hopes completely yet, says analyst Jakob Hedenskog.
