The Blue Rings from Central Uusimaa are celebrating the first Ringete Finnish championship in their club history. Blue Rings defeated NoU Ringete from Nokia in the final series with a 3–1 win.

Blue Rings won the fourth final in overtime with 7–6. He scored the decisive goal Essi Sarmala. Maija Väyrynen completed the hat trick for Nokia’s network.

– Quite an indescribable feeling. Even he himself doesn’t realize it happened, said Sarmala, who scored the winning goal.

Blue Rings went into the final series as favorites based on the regular season and the playoffs, but the series turned out to be really even. It did not surprise Sarmala.

– We knew that Nokia has developed a lot during the season.

According to Sarmala, the work that lasted the whole season was now rewarded with a championship.

Blue Rings head coach Heidi Petrell was sure of his team’s championship.

– The feelings are really good. We never lost faith at any point. I knew we would win if it went to overtime, Petrell said.

According to Petrelli, behind the championship is the groundwork done in the summer, as well as interaction and trust.

Blue Rings is a club founded in 2010 and the championship is its first. In the background is Tuusula Ringette, who won six championships in the 1990s and 2000s. However, the championship means a lot to the club.

– Quite a lot. It’s wonderful that there are junkies in the stands here. I think we have 15 first-time Finnish champions. And this was only the first championship, this is where it starts.
