The first real hint about the next expansion of World of Warcraft has appeared. The Collector’s Edition mount spoils where it’s headed.
In the last few days and weeks there have been many leaks about the next expansion for World of Warcraft, which will most likely be presented at BlizzCon 2023. While the veracity of the previous leaks could still be doubted, there was now the first solid clue – and it comes from data mining. A first success reveals what bonus there is for the “Heroic” edition of the next add-on – and that could have story implications.
What was found? The data miners have read a success. There is already the achievement “Heroic Edition: Algarian Stormrider” hidden in the game data. This achievement is in the style of previous bonuses for purchasing the Heroic Edition of a new expansion – so it’s quite likely a new mount.
What’s the spoiler? The interesting thing about this success is the name. While we don’t know exactly what an “Algarian Stormrider” is, the name is suspicious. The name is not completely new, but already exists in the game – in the form of a mention of “Khaz Algar”. This location was first mentioned in Dragonflight’s revised Uldaman.
What do we know about Khaz Algar? In a report to the Earthen (the ancestors of the Dwarves), we learn that the Titan Guardians have sent a number of Earthen to Sector AR-938 to investigate some “geological anomalies.”
However, the earthen sent out fell victim to the curse of the flesh and began to undergo a transformation similar to that of the dwarves of Ironforge known today – even though they were on a completely different end of the world.
These new dwarves later called sector AR-938 “Khaz Algar” – thus forming their own kingdom.
It is not 100% proven whether the next expansion will take place near Khaz Algar – but since the new mount already uses the name of this place, that seems very likely.
We’ll probably find out more about the next WoW expansion by November 3rd at the latest – because that’s when BlizzCon 2023 will take place.
