Announced in April 2022 by a Bernard Werber who was a little too talkative on Facebook, the video game Les Ants finally deigns to become official on Tuesday January 24, 2023. Through a press release, Microids reveals several things. The first is the game’s release year, scheduled for 2024 on all media. Then we learn that it is a French studio, Tower Five, which is on it, and which has already worked with the French publisher, in particular on the redesign of XIII Remake in 2022, which was released two years earlier with a mouth broken. Based in La Rochelle, the developers let us know that the game will run on Unreal Engine 5, a guarantee of a certain graphic quality. And just take a look at the first images to see a more than attractive graphic rendering. In order to bring Bernard Werber’s work to life, Tower Five opted for a strategy game, tinged with Pikmin-style gameplay elements.
At the size of an ant, with a camera close to the insects and therefore to the ground, the players will have to make a colony of ants prosper (but not only), knowing that it will be necessary to survive through tactical and strategic battles. Exploration, strategy, confrontations, but also alliance with the local fauna will be necessary to emerge victorious from the many challenges that await the players. We also learn that Les Ants will offer a narrative that follows the rhythm of the seasons, knowing that the environment and gameplay mechanics will adapt accordingly. Better, the maps of the game will change according to the time of day (day, night, dawn and dusk) and the enemies will behave differently. So many great promises to come in 2024. We are now waiting for the first video.
