Only a few youth book adaptations managed to build on the success of Twilight and Harry Potter. The Hunger Games franchise is one of the positive examples. Seven years after the final part of the Jennifer Lawrence dystopia, a new Panem film is in the works: The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.
After a teaser introducing the new logo (in the player above), we’re now getting the first catchy footage from the film released over 60 years before the known events plays. (No, we didn’t sneak a picture from a Netflix romance here.)

Lucy Gray and Coriolanus Snow
The picture shows the new character Lucy Gray and the young Coriolanus Snow (Tom Blyth). A new Vanity Fair article describes Rachel Zegler’s Lucy as the “anti-Katniss,” referring to Jennifer Lawrence’s character in the first 4 films.

Coriolanus Snow is best known to you as Donald Sutherland’s grey-haired villain. In The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, he is still young and works behind the scenes of the Hunger Games as a mentor. There he meets Lucy Gray, who, like Katniss, is sent to the grueling competitions as a tribute from the 12th District. Snow and she fall in love.
Lucy will be very different from the serious and withdrawn Katniss, says director Francis Lawrence, who has also directed the last three tribute films.
I mean that without judgement, but Lucy Gray is the anti-Katniss. She is a musician, a performer, a charmer. Snow has never met a girl like her.
