The idea for the competition was born in connection with the municipality discussing the celebration of Kumla’s 80th anniversary.
The rules for the contestants were simple: The hat had to be either knitted or crocheted, it couldn’t be a copy of an existing hat – and it had to be related to Kumla in some way. The contributions were then sent in to the library where a jury was appointed to assess the various creations.
The contribution that best met the requirement profile was Suzanne Olsson and Niklas Törner’s contribution, which is a tribute to various landmarks around Kumla.
Knit your own Kumla hat
And now that the winning entry has been selected, the municipality promises to produce a finished pattern so that anyone can knit their own Kumlamössa. Appropriate given that this year’s Christmas coat is the home-knitted garment.
