According to the statement made on the social media account of the US Embassy in Damascus, Leaf met with HTS officials during his visit to Damascus today.
During the meeting, it was shared that the “principles agreed upon” at the summit held by the USA and its allies in Aqaba, Jordan, were discussed, and that all representatives under the Syrian leadership would “support a participatory political process that respects the rights of Syrians”.

OPENING OF THE REGIME
On November 27, clashes intensified between anti-regime armed groups and Bashar Assad forces in Syria.

As the 61-year rule of the Baath Party came to an end, regime leader Assad fled the capital to Russia, which decided to provide asylum for him and his family on December 8.
On the other hand, the Syrian National Army liberated the Tel Rifat district center from the terrorist organization PKK/YPG on the first day of Operation Dawn of Freedom, which was launched in December.
With the liberation of the Manbij district in the operation, the region, which turned into the largest terrorist nest west of the Euphrates River, was cleared of PKK/YPG.
Following the overthrow of the Baath regime, an interim administration was established in Syria, and Mohammed al-Bashir was appointed as the prime minister of the interim administration until March 2025.
Turkey’s Embassy in Damascus also became operational again on December 14.
After the overthrow of the regime, many Western countries sent delegations to Damascus.
