The Azerbaijani Ministry of Health and the Management Association of Medical Regional Units (TABIB) reported that the patient was a 22-year-old Azerbaijani citizen who went abroad for touristic purposes between January 2-11. It was reported that the patient was isolated and receiving treatment in the hospital.

In the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), 20 people died due to the M pox (mpox) epidemic in the first week of 2025.
In the statement made by the DRC Ministry of Health, it was stated that 66 thousand 63 suspected mpox cases were reported in 2024, 14 thousand 417 of them were confirmed and 1366 people died due to the disease.

Sierra Leone Minister of Health Dr. Austin Demby said the confirmation of 2 cases of Monkeypox in the country warranted action under the Public Health Act. Demby said, “On behalf of the government of Sierra Leone, I declare a public health emergency.”
IT IS TRANSMITTED FROM BOTH ANIMALS AND HUMANS
M pox virus is transmitted from rodents such as mice and squirrels or from infected individuals. Touching body rashes caused by the virus, using clothes, sheets, towels and similar items contaminated with these rashes, and contact with body fluids are among the most important causes of infection.
The first symptoms may appear within 5 to 21 days after contracting the virus. The virus generally causes high fever, head, back and muscle pain, swollen lymph nodes, fatigue, chills, chills and blisters on the skin similar to chickenpox.
The disease, which has no specific treatment method, is treated with antiviral drugs. The majority of cases have a mild disease and recover within a few weeks.
