First aid shipment on site in Sudan

The fighting between the regular army and the paramilitary RSF entered its third week, despite the latest ceasefire, which was due to formally expire only at the end of Sunday.
At the same time, a first flight from the Red Cross has landed in Port Sudan.

Over 500 people have been killed and thousands injured since fighting broke out in Sudan. Tens of thousands of people have also been forced to flee.

Despite the fact that a cease-fire is still to prevail, the two parties to the conflict have also been fighting on Sunday.

“There has been very heavy fighting and loud gunfire since early morning on the street where I live,” a resident of southern Khartoum told AFP.

Clashes were also reported around the army headquarters in central Khartoum, and the army also carried out airstrikes in the neighboring city of Omdurman.

Humanitarian aid on site

The aid organization Red Cross’s first flight with humanitarian aid has landed in Sudan on Sunday. Eight tons of emergency aid materials are in the aid shipment, including surgical equipment, intended for hospitals and volunteers. The aid plane landed in Port Sudan.

Two-thirds of hospitals have been forced to close in areas of conflict, due to lack of water, electricity, medicine, medical supplies and personnel.
