Several policemen were fired upon with fireworks at the stroke of twelve on Marcustorget in central Avesta.
No one was injured, but a 19-year-old man was taken into custody at the scene and is now suspected of causing danger to another, attempted violence against an official and breach of the Act on Flammable and Explosive Goods
– It got really nasty when they shot fireworks straight into a crowd and at the patrols that were on site, so it was pure luck that no one was injured, says Rasmus Eriksson, officer on duty at the police in the Bergslagen region.
In connection with the man being taken into custody, several people tried to stop the police car.
– Others came and got in and stood in the way of the police car, so four of them are suspected of blue light sabotage, says Rasmus Eriksson.
