At lunchtime on Monday, a fire broke out in a refrigerated container on a car deck on board the Stena Scandica, which is located outside Gotska Sandön. The ship was on its way from Latvian Ventspils to Nynäshamn. The Swedish Maritime Administration states that approximately 300 people are on board. A few people have left the ship, but the Swedish Maritime Administration currently sees no need for a full-scale evacuation. The fire is deemed to be under control. – We have no information on casualties, says Lisa Mjörning, press spokesperson at the Swedish Maritime Administration, to TT.
