No injuries reported in blaze Friday morning

A fire in Simcoe Friday morning caused an estimated $100,000 damage.
No injuries were reported in the incident, which was called in to first responders around 7:30 am The fire broke out in a garage at a home at the corner of Grove Street and Brook Street.
“Upon arrival, firefighters discovered heavy smoke and flames coming from a detached garage which was spreading to two surrounding houses,” James Robertson, assistant fire chief in Norfolk County, said in a news release.
“Firefighters acted quickly and were able to contain the blaze before any significant damage was done to the nearby homes. Contents inside the garage — which included two motorbikes and various tools — sustained extensive damage. Cause of the blaze is still being investigated.”
County fire officials have been given to understand that the garage was insured, Robertson added.
