Fire in residential building – woman arrested
The police have started a preliminary investigation into aggravated arson after a fire in an apartment building in Avesta. A woman is arrested.
– I don’t have any specific circumstances as to why, but since it is a multi-family building, there is of course the risk that many people would be affected by a fire, which is probably why it is considered serious, says Anders Dahlman of the Bergslagen police region.
According to Avesta Tidning, one person was taken by ambulance to hospital after the fire.
The police will carry out technical investigations to clarify why the fire started.
The alarm to the police came at 19.30 on Monday.

The Minister of Defense on the cable task: “Not new”
Yesterday, the Washington Post revealed that, according to the newspaper’s sources, Russia is no longer suspected of being behind the latest cable breaches in the Baltic Sea.
Defense Minister Pål Jonsson is now commenting on the information via his press secretary.
– The information presented in the Washington Post is not new to us. The government has been very clear, including at the press conference we held during People and Defence, that we do not speculate about motives or possible intent, says Jonsson and continues.
– Regardless of this, the incidents are very serious given the damage that occurred and must therefore be taken very seriously. Tightening up maritime surveillance is one way to reduce the risks of this happening again, regardless of the cause. Otherwise, a preliminary investigation into suspected sabotage is underway and I will not prejudge the conclusions of this investigation.
